This page is a place where we recognize our Ambassadors for the amazing work they are doing in their own communities - as volunteers, moms, business owners, event coordinators and more.
Please take a minute to read about their accomplishments and gaze upon their smiling faces...they are the faces of real change! If you think your smiling face belongs on this page alongside theirs - take a minute to
join the Ambassador Program and tell us how you are creating green where you live.
April Jacobs - Northbridge, MA
April is proud to be consulting with the Northbridge Town Library as part of the Going Green program for the Town of Northbridge. She is also in the running for Town positions for the Conservation Commission and their Going Green Commission. In addition, April regularly leads discussions for her Green Moms Group.
Jessica Felts - Norcross, GA
Jessica is a student at Wesleyan School in Norcross, Georgia and a founding member of the first Youth Ambassador group! Under Jessica's direction, Wesleyan competed in the February Southeastern Green Cup Challenge- against 33 other schools-- to see which could lower their energy usage the most. Her GenGreen club served as the catalyst for total school involvement in the challenge, and, in cooperation with other students, helped Wesleyan reduce its energy cost by 19.26% and saved $8,027. In just one month.
Sarah Bloom - Columbia PA
Sara recently started volunteering in the archive of a museum and was happy to find out that the museum re-uses nearly all of its paper and other archival materials (bags, boxes, card stock.) In the time she's volunteered there so far she hasn't had to throw a single thing in the trash. (Except for a paper cup for water on the first day - but she remembered to bring her canteen the next time!) She's taken GenGreen Life materials in to display at the front counter, as well as opened up a dialogue with her supervisor about ordering eco-friendly office supplies, etc.
Stan Duncan - Oak Ridge, TN
Stan has been working tirelessly for over 6 months to coordinate the 2009 Earth Day Atomic City Festival that will be held this April in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This festival will be a zero-waste event and will feature organic food, homegrown music, a children's park that supports "No Child Left Inside," bio-degradable disc golf, street art, artisans, animals, green vendors, green prizes and good FUN for all ages.
Dawn Olinek - Lafayette, Colorado
Dawn is one of the original and most dedicated Ambassadors- she completes eco-tasks every month and recently volunteered to write the editorial column for the Ambassador Vision e-Newsletter, called the Bigger Picture...all while running her own business, Egghead Virtual Assistance! Dawn's insight and willingness to bring important issues to the attention of Ambassadors and her community is a great example for environmentalists everywhere.
